Random, unlucky graffiti timing, or... have they been lured into an ambush?
Either way, Kate's plan remains pretty much the same. Attack, detain, sort out the details later. Prepare for contact, boys.
So creative note - I started doing Kate's dialogue black with green lettering, and I like it much more like this. I imagine her sounding feminine but still very much unnatural... calm and synthesized but not too robotic.
Anyways, I like it with the distinct colours :)
On a personal note, happy Canadian thanksgiving everyone!
And on THAT note, hope everyone's having a great weekend and I hope you enjoy the page ^_^
Peace

Ah, alright. An ambush.
Well, I would say "Good luck pals!" but considering the female RoboCop times two is there as well... I am not sure some machine guns are going to do her much harm!
"I imagine her sounding feminine but still very much unnatural... calm and synthesized but not too robotic."
This. So much this!
I have the exact same thought from the very beginning! :D
Like a MUCH better voice synthesizer your hear in translation programs or type-to-speech programs. But advanced.
KATE is too amazing ;_;
I've often thought that it must be *super* shitty to be the first soldier who goes up against the new weapon on the battlefield. Ie. the first guy who realizes his anti-tank weapons aren't strong enough to punch through a new tank, or his plane isn't nearly up to par with the enemies new secret weapon, etc. Or bringing a tried and true machine gun to fight something that turns out to be entirely made of energy and thus impervious to your one chance of winning the fight.
One of the poor guys who dies before the army can adapt :P
Kate's ass is mostly invulnerable but I suspect her companions are less lucky.
Wondering at what point they attack the projection towers... if you can run around town with weaponry, one would think you could do that? Seems the only way one would weaken KATE given how she works.
Ooh don't worry. They're going to do their best to down her.
Whether or not she'll let them bust up her towers is another story though...
Presumably as an AI - she could theoretically be reprogrammed/ordered to do pretty much anything though?
Must be a high cost infrastructure if they don't deploy similarly invincible things to fight fires, rescue people, etc? (or a low valuation on human lives alternatively, not like we don't see plenty of that in the real world)
(didn't see this reply till now)
Good points. Although it hasn't mentioned it greatly in the comic, my thoughts are that there are other hologram type technologies in the world, however Kate's the first to be able to interact with the world in such a powerful way. Ie. it takes a tremendous amount of energy/computing power to get one of the holo-drones to lift an object (say, while hypothetically acting as a server in a restaurant) let alone project lasers / arrest people.
Presumably for rescue operations / firefighters / etc they'd use drones/robots and the like.
Eventually I plan on doing a timeline and writeup of the YesterdayBound galaxy to explain more things like this that don't have time to get shoehorned into the comic. I should get on it, haha.
I like Kate. I think she's far nobler than the regime she was created to defend.
