I can't speak as to a strap-on-shorts fad in webcomics haha, as I'm not sure who/what/where else they're being featured
But for Anna, there's two possible explanations :
1) Anna's current design was based on the old design she had waaaay back in Chapter 2 (seen here in the top panel)
The art back then was... a little less detailed (to say the least) so while I'm not entirely sure what I was going for back then - i'm PRETTY sure she was supposed to be wearing some sorta holsters. It's kind of like when you can't read your own handwriting, haha, so this is my reinterpretation of whatever that was trying to be :D
So, answer #1 : they're part of a pair of holsters, which she's not currently wearing.
2) She's a bit of a try-hard when it comes to fashion, and her outfit is like 95% pointless and impractical.
Or it's some sort of future-fashion style.
Let's just say all of the above explanations are canonical! :D

Haha Thanks! And yeah, it seems crazy to me, too!!
It's a real trip looking back at what I used to do.
I always wonder if I should redo any of the old pages. It must be jarring for new readers having to slog through the old archives haha
But i've sort of had an 'only forward, never back' policy. The story progresses slowly enough with the 1 page per week schedule I barely manage to keep :P and if I get sucked into a circle of redoing stuff eternally... that would doom me! So it is what it is, haha

:D I'm glad people do remember it!!!
It's tricky sometimes with the 1 page per week format. Even I forget what's all happened like, 20 or 30 pages ago (which would be a quick read in paperback format, but represents like months of posting hahah)
But anyways yep :D that's the origins of the string!
