Fighting against a complex and dynamic situation with deep roots and entrenched systems in place : Not the joyride you'd expect?
Turns out Anna's over that shit.
Shoulda left well enough alone, Alice!!
So side note : Shoutout to Thracecius and Chaucer59 - I thoroughly enjoyed your lengthy back-and-forth last week, haha. I was both elated to read your analysis (which you both nailed, as always, obviously) and am now horrified that I won't be able to live up to the complexities of said analysis(Que : Imposter Syndrome!). So, good job :D :D
More to come!

Alice's superpower is provoking undiluted emotional revelations.
That's the trouble with occupation wars and rebellions. No two people involved really have the same goals beyond "get yer boot off my neck".
P.S. She's smiling because you're starting to sound like her, Anna.
It continues to be true, haha : You either die an Anna, or you live long enough to become an Alice.
And yeah, trying to get anyone on the same page is a trick at the best of times. I'd be surprised to ever see more than like a dozen people sharing the same goals for the same reasons, haha
Huh.
Not a surprising turn of events in the grand scheme of things, but one I didn't think of immediately and a welcome one all the same. Most soldiers hate war more than anyone you will ever meet since they are the ones who personally stand to lose the most from them (job, family, life & limb), but Anna was never really a soldier as far as we know, just a civilian with a very intense dedication to taking action.
Maybe Alice has [accidentally] provoked the necessary break for them to actually communicate with one another?
Oh, and Mars, I'm glad to hear you were entertained by my blathering responses to Chaucer59, sometimes I don't have the presence of mind to be more concise. As for worrying about not meeting some lofty expectations, I don't think you should worry at all, just keep doing what you're doing, it's worked well so far! :)
Accidental provocation is Alice's specialty. Ten fails followed by a success is still a success! Haha
And yeah, despite the outlandish/adventure themes of the comic (and obvious scifi/fantastical elements) i've tried to keep a basic theme of "fighting in a war sucks, despite the bravado some may show" tucked somewhere neatly inside of things :P hence the odd page like this!
Expectations? Hell, Mars, met and exceeded. This was perfect.
I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation between Thracecius and Chaucer59 last page.
I STILL think Jay paired them off on either a wild-goose chase or to simply draw attention and firepower (relying on Anna's skills and Alice's luck) away from the REAL assault...
I like how Alice's luck is an all-but-confirmed superpower, haha. May it never run out!
