“Like I said... it was like nothing i'd ever seen, in all my years of combat. They were so fast. I swear, they moved through us faster than we could even get the word out. And strong. You know the Cryo Soldiers get frozen between fights, right? Well, those tubes they are in – they work the muscles. Constantly, feeding them nutrients, or whatever, for years at a time, keeping them in peak condition. Major Hart... he hit my group. We lost half our guys before we even started firing back – and when we did, he was gone. Then he was behind us, and... Christ. He was in our faces – you should see the guy move. I didn't know what to do – I was out of ammo. I think we all were, at this point. I charged him, swung my rifle, like a bat, you know. He was distracted, but he still caught it, like he knew it was coming. It was like hitting a steel wall. Stopped my swing with one hand, and then... and I remember this as clear as if it happened yesterday - he ripped the rifle from my hands, and smashed it over his knee. Like, really smashed it. Damn near broke it in two! Stock, barrel and all. And then he grabbed me, by the arm. Flipped me around, it was like getting hit by a bus – I was terrified - and that's all I remember. I thought he was going to kill me. But I guess not. When I woke up, I was in here... and they told me I was lucky to be alive. Of all the areas that Hart's group hit... ours was the only one with survivors. Guess he didn't think we was worth killing. Or maybe we didn't deserve it. Who knows. At any rate, he got the job done. The bunker fell only a short while after.”
Hey-oh! First of all, there's a new incentive page up (It's not the one shown above) so go VOTEme into the top 100, everyone!
Secondly, this is a little idea i've had recently. I have a lot of backstory, or tidbits of interest in my head for Yesterdaybound and the world, and a lot of it never makes it into the comic. Short stories, humorous happenings, backstory for characters, etc. So i'm going to start writing little blurbs from time to time to accompany small sketches.
They may or may not be very interesting, but it serves as a way to flesh out the story, without being absolutely needed.
Any ways, a story like this, for instance, can help expand the Cryo backstory, and add details into how I figure it functions.
So enjoy! And thanks as always for all the support, guys and gals :)
It's less a policy against killing, and more a differentiating between "evil enemy who deserves to die" and "there is a chance my opponent is simply misled, and doesn't deserve to die"
And then, of course, there's his budding doubt about enforcing one's will upon the world just because you can, haha.
But yeah, all that would have happened during these sort of events
I am always interested in world building and character back story, so keep it coming, Mars! :D
