I know Alice has spent a lot of this chapter whining and crying, but it's been an important part of her character I wanted to convey.
Despite her bravado, rebellious facade and independent desires, she struggles inside quite a bit.
Anxiety, depression, whatever you want to label it - she struggles to deal with simple life situations more than most, let alone large, world altering moments. And she's got her reasons.
But it's taken Jay a little longer to realize that she's not just putting on an act when she says she can't deal with things ; she really is struggling.
So bear with her.
And thanks for tuning in :D Hope you enjoy / have an awesome Sunday as always ^_^

"Nothing that can't be cured... by my penis."
That was the original draft for the script, but the test groups were confused by 9 following pages of hardcore BDSM, so it was changed.
Is this where she falls into his arms? Jay's definitely the rock she needs.
What Jamie above said.
Also, I think this is a job well done coupled with the previous build-up conversations.
I totally get her. I can be the same. Acting happy and normal but suffering deep inside until I break down and say/post/etc. something bad under the pressure of sad and negative feelings.
It kinda goes hand-in-hand with rebellious or overly happy attitude. You want to fight yourself so bad...
Some people just deal with things differently :P and some reeeaally need to do so at their own pace.
Alice walks the fine line between dealing with things slowly on her own and bottling things up, though.
Thank you!! Was such a hassel to get right haha. I wanted it to convey such a specific emotion that I had pictured, probably got a little too invested as it took me much longer than a simple drawing of a face should have hah.
I completely agree with Stever. I especially like the dialogue rolling around in a figure-eight, because somehow it flowed naturally to me without even having to look at the entire panel. Very nice touch.
Also, I don't think Alice will turn down that hug now, even though I suspect it'll, ahem, go 'further' than a hug.
Awww. The page layout is something only comics can do. The spam of word balloons and breaking borders really show us how poor Alice is (not) holding up. :(
Ahhh thanks man. Striking the balance between looking like she's falling apart and making the page look like a special effect ridden nightmare was a trick to get right, haha. So i'm glad it's coming across as I intended :D
She needs a good kiss on the lips. And a guiding hand. Maybe a mentor, if you will. Although...9 pages of hardcore BDSM? Hrmmmm..,Alternate future history vision go!
Okay, this was an odd comic to come into the strip on. Starting from the top, I guess...
Oh, she's such an aspergian. Da feelz. Da recognition.
