"Captain" Alice Keeley is a pilot, explorer, and first and formost - a surviver. She is a loner with little people skills. Orphaned at a young age when her homeworld was attacked and her parents killed, she has grown up untrusting, independant and a little unhinged. She is a vehement free spirit ; facing the mere thought of being coerced or forced down a pre-planned path with violent opposition.
Alice explores the galaxy in her space ship, a converted cargo transporter called the "Yesterday", as a means to sate her ever wandering mind, and trades the salvage and otherworldly goods she finds for fuel and resources needed to survive in a futuristic universe.
Stern and forceful in his beliefs, Major Hart is a soldier through and through. Hart's storied and complicated career spans countless decades, thanks to being repeatedly cryogenically frozen and reawakened when Earth's military was needed. He has seen the rise and fall of both order and anarchy, toppled governments and crushed revolutions. He is a weapon ; a master of tactics, all forms of combat and morally incorruptible, though he comes from a time long before modern technolagy such as hyperdrives or kinetech-rayguns.
Jay is objective driven. Despite all the evidence he has seen to the contrary, he believes in humanity. Over the years, he has seen society replace empathy with policy, freedom with security and transparency with corruption. It was this degradation that led to Jay's open rebellion against a system he no longer believes is right. Formerly a hero, the Major was branded a traitor and hunted viciously. During a fight-gone-wrong, Jay was forced to freeze himself once more and eject his stasis pod into the depths of space, where he drifted for years before being found by Alice Keeley.
Kate is the pinnacle of Law Enforcement Technology. Developed by the corporation Kine-Tech, she is an advanced, adaptive A.I. system responsible for ensuring real-world enforcement of laws on the world Atropos. Although she is essentially a computer program, she is projected into the real world via Kine-Tech broadcast stations that saturate advanced 'Kinetic Particles' into the atmosphere, which are then assembled into a physical being that is able to interact with the environment around itself.
Marketed as an evolution to steel-and-plastic androids, she is able to harness and manipulate the Kinetic Particles broadcast around her in a variety of ways. Her power levels are dependant on the saturation levels of particles, and thus she is unable to exist in non-broadcast areas. However, in Kine-Tech controlled areas with sufficient broadcast power, she can attain nearly omipotent potency. Combined with access to vast online information banks and a mandate to enforce laws to the letter and ensure peace at any cost, she has become a nearly unstoppable force... for better or worse.
The closest thing Alice has to a true home is her venerable Spaceship, the Yesterday. A very old, out of date cargo hauling vehicle powered by an unstable but very powerful reactor, as was the norm for vessels of its time.
Unlike most older vessels from its era that exist today, the Yesterday has scarecly been upgraded with modern technolagy. Therefor, it retains heavy armour shielding for re-entry as opposed to a force field, as well as old VTOL turbine technolagy for operating in an atmosphere instead of anti-grav pads or Kinetic Flight systems..
Vehicles in the early era of space travel were built to be extremely resiliant and maintained by a skeleton crew. Alice is well versed in the mechanical workings of her ship, though replacement parts and tools are in constant short supply, leading Alice to improvise on many occassions.
As a cargo hauler, it is able carry a variety of attachments underneath its aft section with ease - usually an emptied container that Alice retrofits as a living quarter.
The Yesterday has no standard armaments, but is equipped with a powerful radar and is fully capable of operating in almost any environment.

Welcome to the Milky-way of the distant future. Humanity is scattered throughout the cosmos, both physically and in spirit. On many worlds, civilization exists in a myriad of ways ; from lawless backwater planets to the urbanized moons nearer to the Earth.
Advanced technology is commonplace, although the heavy disorder, lack of centralized government in most areas and sheer expanse of the galaxy ensures a hodgepodge of old and new devices working in harmony. It is not uncommon to see older space ships equipped with modern Hyperdrives or weaponry, nor is it uncommon to see battles being fought with bullets and armour on one side and rayguns and energy shields on the other.
Modern historians refer to the current era as a sort of 'Post-modern Colonial time" and often draw comparisons to the days of the Old West in the mid-19th century. What law exists in the outer regions has a tentative hold at best on a melting pot of cultures each vying for dominance over the galactic human race.
